IETFIn 2017, he took part in two IETF meetings: IETF 99 held on July 16-21 in Prague, Czech Republic and IETF 100 held on November 11-17 in Singapore.

Maksim is an active member of IETF working groups responsible for transport protocols. Since 2015 he has been involved in updating the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP). SCTP is a message-oriented standards track transport protocol. It was originally developed for transporting telephony signaling messages and is deployed in telephony signaling networks, most largely - in mobile telephony networks such as 3G and 4G networks. The protocol will also be used in 5 th generation mobile network (5G).

Being a co-writer of the corresponding Internet Draft, Maksim delivered on the evolution of SCTP at both IETF 99 and IETF 100. He mentioned that the work on the document was almost over, and the draft was under approval to be published as RFC.

"At the beginning, the new version of SCTP seemed almost impossible to deliver. However, we managed to go to considerable length in this field and gained the support of other IETF experts," comments Maksim. "Now it is safe to say that the updated standard will be published in the nearest future."

Maksim also contributes to a number of other IETF documents in the transport area that are currently being drafted. Besides, he is a member of TSVWG, TCPM, TAPS è QUIC working groups. Maksim will continue to actively participate in IETF elaborating documents of his own and working in cooperation with other IETF members.
