On April 19, 2018, the conference "Digitalisation in North Rhine Westphalia (NRW): New Markets for International Companies" was held as part of the German Week.

The event was devoted to the discussion of the Digitalisation of the economy and the prospects that are thereby opened for IT companies. Experts from the competence center CPS.HUB NRW, of science and business told about the leading directions in the North Rhine Westphalia - Machine Learning, Smart Data and the opportunities for Russian IT companies to enter the German market.

Representatives of German companies noted their interest in cooperation with Russian IT companies.

Valentine Makarov, President of RUSSOFT gave the report "National Technological Initiative of the Russian Federation. Export Potential of Russian IT Companies", and talked about the achievements of the Russian IT industry and the prospects for its development.

Based on the preliminary data of the IT industry research conducted annually by RUSSOFT, he noted an increase in the turnover of software development companies - up to 19% (USD) and foreign sales growth up to 15% in 2017, as well as an increase in the number of qualified software developers (in 2017 by 10%, in 2018 growth is expected to reach 11%).

The head of RUSSOFT also spoke about the readiness of Russian companies to enter actively the international market with their packages (64% of companies are already working for the international market, 40% of IT companies surveyed concentrate only on foreign sales *).

In addition, Valentine noted that R&D centers are actively developing in Russia in the leading IT areas: BigData, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer vision, etc., and there is an active training of highly qualified IT specialists, as evidenced by numerous victories in international championships programming since 2008.

According to him, the development of the IT industry in Russia is facilitated by the growing need in the international market for alternative security solutions, a "platform approach" to the development of security solutions, the availability of support for state institutions and the close interaction of the IT industry with other areas.

In conclusion, Valentine noted that, according to an independent study, Russia is in the top 10 countries with the best programmers and developers (2017) **.
