Born on the 3rd of September in 1949, Andrei Terekhov graduated with honors from Leningrad State University in the field of Computer Science.

Beginning in 1971 he worked as a junior research associate, and then went on to become the head of the system-programming laboratory of Leningrad State University. In 1984 Dr. Terekhov was designated the deputy director of the Scientific Research Institute "Zvezda," and the Leningrad Scientific-Industrial Association "Krasnaya Zarya."

A very active person, in 1991 Dr. Terekhov founded and became director of the State Enterprise "TERCOM," and in 1996 founded and headed the Software Engineering Chair of St. Petersburg State University. From the moment of founding "Lanit-Tercom, Inc." in 1998, he also became the General Director of the company. In 2002 he organized and led the Scientific Research Institute of Information Technology of St. Petersburg State University. In September of 2004 Dr. Terekhov was selected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUSSOFT (the Association of Software Developers), which was created on the foundation of the FORT-ROSS Consortium and RUSSOFT.

Andrei Terekhov holds a Doctoral Degree in Physical-Mathematical Sciences, and is a member of the International Academy of Information Technology. He is also a member of ACM and the IEEE Computer Society.

Married in 1970, Galia and Andrei Terekhov have two children. His daughter Karina graduated with honors from the Mathematics and Mechanics Department of St. Petersburg State University, and defended her doctoral dissertation at Oxford University. At the current time she is a high-level manager in Nokia.

His son Andrei also graduated with honors from the Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering Department of St. Petersburg State University, where he received his PhD in Mathematics and Physics. He currently works as a telecommunications manager with Russian universities and Microsoft (Moscow).

Andrei Nikolaevich's hobbies are basketball and boating.
