The Challenge

The CLIENT is one of the fastest-growing companies in the help desk and tracking software industry. They maintain over 13 web sites. Each web site has its own traffic log or web log, which stores information such as visitor's IP address, time of visit, length of visit, referring site, etc. All web sites are not hosted on the same server; therefore web log files are not stored in the same format.

For better understanding of the web site traffic results regarding sales of its products, the company needed a program that would use a central database composed of web log information from multiple servers and various log formats. The program needed to be able to search and extract customer information from the central database by IP address thus showing the number of days in the average sales cycle, referring sites, top keywords, etc.

The Solution

The solution was developed as per their requirements and helped in:
  • Trace information such as visitor's IP address, time of visit, length of visit, referring site, etc.
  • Analyze web site traffic results regarding product sales;
  • Compare actual results and forecast values on a chart;
  • Significant simplification of the data interpretation.
