AI in Healthcare to be the Source of Soft Power between India and Russia

07 June 2024

In a significant development aimed at bolstering bilateral ties, India and Russia are going to step up their soft power linkage by tapping into the huge opportunities of artificial intelligence in healthcare. Acknowledging the transforming potential of AI, experts from both countries met virtually today to discuss ways in which this bestial technology can be used to enhance public health and save lives

India and Russia are strengthening their bilateral ties by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare and agriculture. Expert teams from both countries are collaborating to address sustainability, eliminate bias, and enhance accuracy in AI applications. They are developing common tasks, use cases, frameworks, metrics, and assessing data, methodology, and computing power needs for a pilot experiment.

The high-level panel, which included several prominent figures from the healthcare and technology industries, was a strong indication of how broadly AI’s potential role in modern healthcare systems is now accepted. The conversation revolved around the possibilities of AI harnessing for transforming healthcare delivery, from remote health monitoring to conversational chatbots and how it could help in reducing these errors in medical field.

It noted the urgency of use cases such as AI-driven distance health monitoring, particularly in times when telemedicine has grown substantially in importance. AI, in this context, can realize a truly real-time mode of health monitoring for patients and promote prompt medical treatment along with persistent care across borders. This technology has especially valuable applications in chronic disease management and post-operative care, providing a lifeline to patients in geographically isolated or medically-underserved regions.

Another key aspect of the conversation revolved around AI chatbots’ integration within healthcare. Now, chatbots with advanced algorithms can not only respond instantly to patients’ questions but also offer initial diagnoses and direct people towards the right health channel. The efficiency of the chatbots helps reduce workloads for healthcare professionals and guarantees that patients will receive relevant information and support sooner rather than later.

The panel further highlighted how AI is working to minimize the increasing scope of human error in medical routine. AI can help in providing accurate assessments and making decisions that may be necessary for the patient’s safety, right from diagnostic processes to surgical procedures. AI prediction can predict risk of likely health hazards ahead, that possible measures could be taken care for avoiding consequences.

Both countries expect a future in which AI markedly improves health care delivery and access. Ultimately, the detractors and proponents of AI viewing glasses are optimistic with all parties dedicated to promoting innovation and collaboration in next-gen AI technologies.

The pilot project aims to create standards for AI conformity in agriculture and healthcare, tailored for both nations. This includes developing quality assessment metrics for AI technologies and setting requirements for their performance compared to human operators.

The initial results of this Russian-Indian collaboration on AI standardization will be presented at the BRICS national standardization bodies summit in summer 2024, highlighting their commitment to advancing AI innovation and international cooperation.

The future seems promising as these AI programs are expected to have positive and ambitious results. The cooperation not only stands to benefit citizens of both countries, but also strengthens the strong, strategic partnership between India and Russia. As the world sees it, this collaboration in AI-healthcare can be a beacon for progress and cooperation in the international arena.
