Last week, a sizable deal in the field of neurosciences was announced in Russia. Maxim Basov, an executive from the agro industry, has invested in Wikium, an award-winning startup offering brain productivity exercises for office staff and students.

Basov took control of the company, acquiring a 66% stake, Rusbase reported. The amount of the deal was not disclosed, but Rusbase noted that Wikium has been valued at $15 million post-money. 

A part of Basov’s investment will be injected into the company for scale-up and R&D purposes. With the help of researchers, Wikium intends to launch programs for mental health, aiming to increase stress resistance and psychological comfort.

Wikium claims its solutions have a measurable effect on human cognitive capacities:

• Reaction speed: +17% after one week of exercises;
• Memory: +19% after 2-3 weeks;
• Concentration on tasks: +60% after one month;
• Attention to details: x2.1 after two months

Last year Wikium’s revenue amounted to 170 million rubles (some $2.3 million at the average exchange rate of the year). The company claims 6.5 million users, including employees from Lukoil, Mercedes-Benz Russia,  Rockwool Russia, Rosbank, Rostelecom, Siemens Finance, Sovcombank, among others.
