RUSSOFT session at the CIPR Conference “BRICS. Digitalization as an impetus for the cooperation between countries of World of Majority”

On May 31st RUSSOFT will hold a session “BRICS. Digitalization as an impetus for the cooperation between countries of World of Majority” at the CIPR Conference in Nizhny Novgorod. 

The BRICS countries occupy a unique place in the global economy. Together, they create about 25% of global GDP and are a large–scale global market – about 3.21 billion people (42% of the World population). Today, the BRICS member countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) are key and strategic partners in the field of trade, finance and technology. The BRICS Economic Partnership Strategy until 2025 is mainly aimed at reforming and strengthening the international financial system, which was shaken during the pandemic and by restrictions imposed by anti-Russia sanctions, as well as at developing scientific and technological cooperation to ensure the technological sovereignty of the BRICS countries.

And when it comes to technological sovereignty, it is important to understand that sovereignty is not isolation, but the strongest negotiating position with partner countries regarding the development and production of technologies, the development of R&D centers, the transfer of knowledge and competencies. We will talk over building relationships in the field of digital transformation and technological sovereignty of BRICS countries today during a special session.

Areas of discussion:

• Which areas of cooperation in science and technology allow to maximize our potential to meet challenges which are decisively changing the global World today? In which areas could we unite our forces in order to compete for the Global leadership in the New Technological Setup and for being able to determine a new model of cooperation between countries in the World of Majority?
• Which product areas have the maximum potential for development between the BRICS countries? Which Russian technologies and products are in demand in the BRICS markets? In which joint projects of partner countries is Russia able to participate as a leader?
• New logistics chains in a changed world have also been affected by digital technologies. What is the possible future model of cooperation between the BRICS countries in the field of digital transformation.
• What models of import substitution in the BRICS’ countries can be replicated in Russia today? Will the unification of efforts in the field of digitalization and technology transfer be able to become the outline of BRICS activities, determining its vector for the coming years?
