Russian-language Internet economy tops $73bn—report

Russian-language Internet audiences currently include an estimated 95.9 million people, with Internet penetration reaching 78.1%, the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC) found in its final 2019 report.

The mobile audience segment demonstrated habitually strong growth this year; now an estimated 85.2 million users access the Russian-language web from mobile gadgets. RAEC expects the mobile audience to equal the desktop one in a very near future.

The Russian-language Internet economy grew 20% between 2018 and now to reach $73.5bn. The largest hubs in the Russian-language Internet economy are: e-commerce ($44.5bn), payment services ($21bn), and ads/marketing ($5.2bn).
