Biometric captcha system developed in Russia

The sCaptcha service has been created in Russia to make sure an actual human being enters computer data rather than a bot, the press service of NTI Platforms reports.

As noted, the system is more efficient than ordinary CAPTCHA: in most cases, a robot can recognize text protection in 0.05 seconds, while sCaptcha protection is more difficult to recognize — there are no products to bypass it, and it is too expensive to create them.

“Companies engage customers through targeted advertising. In this regard, bots come to the site that try to spread spam, collect site data for third-party use, or hack user accounts. Sites have a standard captcha, but most bots bypass protection. At the same time, visitors cannot use the site normally,” explains NTI.

Users spend an average of 9.8 seconds on recognizing and entering captcha, and not all of them enter it correctly. the first time it turns out for 71%.

According to the authors of sCaptcha, existing captchas contribute to a 3.2% loss in conversion and do not solve the problem of fighting spam. The service aims to address these issues, including payment fraud and loss of user accounts. Also, the project will speed up the passage of verification and increase the conversion of visits to sales.

“sCaptcha is completed on average 80% faster, thereby increasing the chance of an impulse purchase. More than 95% of users will be able to understand and enter a captcha the first time,” the authors of the project say.

They are asked not to find any object in the photo, as in reCaptcha, but to repeat a simple drawing — to depict a cross, a horseshoe, an infinity symbol, etc. The trained neural network receives the result and studies not only the drawing itself, but also the drawing speed, acceleration and other parameters.

The developers expect to attract up to 250 thousand partners around the world and work with government websites in Russia, where Google’s captcha is now used. The project will be presented at the Archipelago-2121 intensive.
