BBC decodes the tech world of Russia

BBC has launched a radio series on “The Real Internet Giants” covering leading tech scenes across the world. Following China, the second instalment of the series looks at Russia.

This episode uncovers who the movers and shakers of Russia’s internet landscape really are, finds out where the country is leading on cyber innovation and consider the country’s future aspirations in the global tech race.

Contributors include:

  • Tatyana Bakalchuk, founder of Russia’s largest online retailer Wildberries;
  • Adrien Henni, chief editor at East-West Digital News;
  • Elena Ivashentseva of Baring Vostok;
  • Polina Kolozaridi of Moscow’s Higher School of Economics;
  • Oleg Tumanov, CEO of Ivi video streaming platform;
  • Stefano Zuppet, technology investment expert at TMT Global.

The program is led by Kathryn Parsons, a tech founder and CEO who aims to “demystify the digital world,” and produced by BBC journalist Sam Peach.
