Shoppers walk - shopping centers generate energy

11 July 2021

Shopping centers in Russia will be able to generate energy through the steps of visitors. This was reported in the press service of the National Technology Initiative Platform (NTI). The Energy walk project will be presented at the Archipelago 2121 summer intensive.

The project is a platform with a mechanism that converts the energy of steps into electric current. When a person steps on a section of the platform, the mechanism starts: first, a rod is lowered, which scrolls the generator, then the alternating current from it is converted into a direct current with the help of a converter and transmitted to the storage device, and from there is consumed through the distributed network of the object.

“Devices can be installed in the subway, shopping malls, train stations or at the airport. We plan to place the mechanism in places with maximum traffic, we will start from Novosibirsk next year, and then, most likely, we will move to large cities of Russia,” said the project manager Irina Isaeva.

the project is currently at the testing and prototyping stage. The authors of the project are considering several schemes that will work. Presumably, it will be a tile of 30×30 cm, on which it will be visually possible to focus attention.
