21 September 2021

Moscow became the first city in the world to use facial recognition for fare payments on such a scale, according to the Moscow the Department of Transport. The possibility of launching the service at the Moscow Central Circle (MCC), commuter rail lines Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) as well as ground transport is also being considered, Head of the Department of Transport Maxim Liksutov said.

First metro stations became available for Face Pay at the beginning of August 2021. Earlier in September, officials announced that the Face Pay implementation on all Moscow Metro stations would be executed by October 15.
