Intelligent System for Reducing Traffic Jams Edge Vision Introduced in Moscow

23 November 2021

An intelligent system for reducing traffic jams Edge Vision is being tested in Moscow by the Moscow Transport Department.

It was installed at two crossroads in the Novomoskovsk administrative district. Edge Vision collects online traffic data, processes it, and then sends a signal to switch traffic lights. The key feature is that all calculations take place on-site and do not require the transfer of big data to the data center.

According to the Deputy Mayor of Moscow Maxim Liksutov, during the first tests “it is already possible to predict an improvement in traffic by 10-20%.” Intersection capacity is also projected to increase by 25% during normal times.

Edge Vision technology was developed on the basis of the Moscow Transport Innovations project. In December 2021, another 33 teams will be selected to offer their innovative projects.
