The Competitive Programming Federation Created in Russia

The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media and the Ministry of Sports created the Competitive Programming Federation as part of a memorandum of cooperation signed at SPIEF 2022. The federation will unite existing competitions in competitive programming and attract IT industry specialists to develop a new kind of mind sport.

Specialists of the federation will develop and popularize competitive programming (also called ‘sports programming’) among people in Russia, organize and hold competitions, develop methodology and assist in the training of coaches and programmers. Russia became the first country in the world to recognize competitive programming as a sport. The Russian Competitive Programming Championship is planned to be held in 2022. The disciplines will include algorithmic and product programming.
