Roskomnadzor plans to create the national DDoS protection system using the equipment involved in the execution of the sovereign internet law in the fall of 2022. According to the plans, by this time the supervisory agency will upgrade the hardware for deep packet inspection (DPI).

These DPI tools are already equipped with protection against DDoS attacks, but they have only a few signatures (patterns of attack types) which the equipment can respond to. Roskomnadzor also plans to upgrade the infrastructure for the sovereign internet in order to increase the throughput of DPI equipment.
