Mobile operator offers remote health status monitoring

28 июля 2020

MegaFon, one of Russia’s leading mobile operators, has introduced its proprietary digital service for remote health status monitoring, the Russian business daily Vedomosti reported.

The new service is expected to enable medical facilities across the country to launch across-the-board telemedicine projects with medical instruments that are capable of transmitting diagnostics data all on their own.

There will be a series of such MegaFon solutions, Pavel Zakharov of MegaFon’s Corporate Marketing told Vedomosti. The inaugural project now being marketed is a system for hypertension patients, making it possible to monitor one’s blood pressure and pulse rate. The mobile operator is reported to have plans to integrate its platform with medical information systems at government-owned and commercial clinics. What clinics those will be has yet to be specified.

According to Mr. Zakharov, the solution looks like a standard blood pressure gauge that can transfer patient’s data via a cellular network or Bluetooth, sending it out to a cloud platform to be stored in a de-personalized format, and it’s only the patient’s physician that can get access to the patient’s personal information. For medical facilities, access to the platform is subscription based.
